The company that fabricates the shutters must be approved by the national accredited and management institution (NAMI) to ensure the shutters are fabricated per the required specifications for quality assurance. Once the company is approved, they are issued NAMI quality assurance labels with the Florida product approval number listed for the shutters. These labels are required to be applied to every shutter installed for confirmation by the county code compliance inspector and insurance company inspection in wind mitigation to insure the shutters installed are certified for hurricane protection.
All Shutters are not created EQUAL: Most companies do not fabricate the shutters they sell, for several reasons, from lack of experience and our equipment. In addition, prefabricated shutters are less expensive to purchase compared to the cost associated with the proper fabrication designed for a specific installation. Are Fabric Shutters a Solution?
What about Fabric Shutters? Some companies offer this product at a cost savings over aluminum shutters. Although the fabric products are an attractive alternative financially, I am not a believer of a fabric type of hurricane protection in the form of roll or bolt on applications for several reasons.
1. Fabric protection is a new concept that has not been proven long term for durability in the harsh south Florida environment.
2. Fabric will allow some weather through its protection barrier and does have an enormous deflection as much as a 36” bow in hurricane force testing. Meaning a glass separation eliminating glass breakage should be considered in designing the installation in addition to a furniture separation on a lanai application.
3. Will the fabric protection some companies offer still be operational 30 years from now? 20 years? 10 years? 5 years?
4. Will the fabric really give you the protection you and your family will be relying on with that the hurricane makes land fall?

We stock all the parts we use in our shutter fabrication. All parts used in our fabrications are made with non corrosive materials.
